Your children's vision and eye health will have a huge impact on their overall health and success in life. Back to school is a great time to schedule an annual eye exam with Dr. Wacasey, serving Longview, TX, and the surrounding areas.

When to See the Eye Doctor

Unlike a regular medical doctor, who you see once a year for a check-up, people often think they only need to visit the eye doctor if they are having vision problems. The truth is, many vision and eye health problems can be avoided if they were detected early and eye care treatment started quickly. This is why it is so important to schedule annual eye exams for your entire family, especially for your children.

Kids do not always speak up and share the fact that they have vision problems. This could be because they are scared they'll need to wear glasses, or because they have had vision problems for so long that they think it is normal. Either way, it is the parent's responsibility to stay on top of their eye care needs.

What to Expect

When your child comes in for a back-to-school eye exam, they will first have a vision screening. This vision screening will be much more thorough than the types of screenings they may receive at school or from a medical doctor. This screening will pinpoint any vision problems even if your child has not been complaining of issues.

Our optometrist will also perform an eye health exam. This checks the health of the eyes to detect any types of eye disease or conditions that need attention.
